WHY I'M RUNNING

I come from a family of educators; they instilled in me the belief in the transformative power of public education. I proudly attended one of the nation’s finest public universities, and I firmly believe that access to quality education is the key to long term economic success for all Americans. I run for this seat with no agenda other than to ensure the continued improvement of the excellent education provided in Tustin Unified and access to a world-class education for every child in our district. As positive as my own educational experience was, I recognize that this kind of experience remains elusive for some. Expanding educational opportunities and curating the experience for each student is my vision, and ambition, for the students of Tustin Unified.

ABOUT JONATHAN

My parents both taught in Tustin. I attended Loma Vista, Hewes, and Foothill. My daughter will begin high school this year having attended Loma Vista and Columbus Tustin. Though my parents were both teachers, I spent my career in the private sector, primarily in corporate training and information services. I began my career as a trainer but soon shifted to management, where I learned the importance of the operational elements required to deliver excellent training. I assisted entrepreneurs to establish their businesses, assisting them with hiring, and employee evaluation. Later, I owned and operated my own business for nearly a decade.
Each stop on my career journey helped prepare me for service on the school board, as an educator, as an administrator, practicing sound financial management, and recruiting top talent.
In addition to my professional experience, I served as chairman of the board of the Tustin Chamber of Commerce, as a member of the Citizens Oversight Committee for Bond Measure S and recently, I co-chaired Measure N, an effort to raise money for the badly needed infrastructure repair and replacements necessary on Tustin Unified oldest campuses. I currently sit on the Interfaith Outreach Committee of Habitat For Humanity of Orange County. When not serving, I love to travel, fish, hike, and read. I’m fortunate to be married to the Reverend Lynn Stone and proud to be called dad by Katie Stone, Foothill High class of ‘24.
